2023 Art Show

    The 2023 Art Show is open for applications!

    Please note:

    Inclusion in the Art Show does not provide you with passes to the convention. Tickets are available here on our site. You or an agent are required to attend the convention to be included in the Art Show.

    ART SHOW INFORMATION

    Art & Submission Policy

    All submissions should be the legal and intellectual property of the displaying artist. WhimsyCon, and CAG will not be responsible for plagiarized artwork. Any items found to be in violation WILL BE REMOVED from the show. WhimsyCon and CAG reserves the right not to display works which may be deemed unsuitable for general all-age audience viewing or that violate community standards, infringe on Copy right or intellectual property or are deemed hate speech. Please keep in mind this is a family event! If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

    Application Policy

    No space is reserved until payment is received and space is first come first serve. If paying by check or money order, email artshow@whimsycon.org for mailing address and let us know as soon as payment is mailed so your space will be held pending payment arrival. There will be no walk in submissions. If you want to pay using PayPal, let me know your PayPal address and you will be sent an invoice.

    Artists are limited to three spaces, either table or panel spaces or a combination thereof. Spaces are assigned on a first pay basis. You can ask to be put on a waiting list for more space, but there is no guarantee of availability. This is a small show and there are many artists who want to participate.

    Fees

    Art show fees are as follows:

    • $20 for a full 6’ table or 8’ panel
    • $15 for 1/2 table or 4’ panel
    • 10% commission on sold work.

    Packing fee

    In addition to the fees listed above, all artists are expected to bring packing material and either bags or boxes to pack your sold work in to send home with your patrons. If you do not bring packing materials, there will be an additional $10.00 fee to provide packaging for your sold work. This fee is in effect even if you do not sell anything. So bring some packing materials and bags/boxes with you to avoid the fee.

    Cancellation Policy

    Art Show space, both panels and tables, are held for artists to the exclusion of others. Due to the difficulty in reselling space at the last minute, no refunds will be made after March 1st. Refunds will only be made if space is resold.

    Payment

    We plan on paying artists at the show after check out on Sunday, barring unforeseen circumstances. Otherwise payment to artists will generally made within 3 weeks. This timeframe may vary, but we endeavor to ensure that artists will receive payment in a timely fashion.

    At the Convention

    Artist Check-in & Setup

    Friday, March 31 – 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm — Art must be finished setting up by 9:00 pm

    You will be emailed control sheets and bid sheets once you have been approved.All paperwork should be done one week before the show, and your control sheet should be done before as well. We ask that you return your control sheet before the convention to help with Data entry. Control sheets can be emailed to me in Word or Pages document.

    Art Show Procedure

    • There will be a printshop this year. Print shop fee is $1 per piece entered into the show, unless you have reserved space in the main art show, then you may enter up to 25 pieces into the print shop with no fee.
    • There will be no live voice auction, silent auction only! Highest bid by 2:00 pm Sunday wins the piece.
    • Quick sales will be available until a second bid is placed, otherwise the piece will be considered in play for the auction and must remain in the show until Sunday at 2:00 pm.
    • There will be no after auction sales.
    • There will be a 10% commission taken by the convention on all sales from the Art Show.
    • Tax will be charged on all pieces and will be collected by the Art Show staff.
    • The Art Show will accept credit cards and cash for payments.
    • Photography will not be allowed except with the expressed consent of the artist. The artist must inform Art Show personnel that photography will be permitted.

    Convention hours are:

    • Friday – Artist Setup 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm (art must be finished setting up by 9:00 pm)
    • Friday – Show Open 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
    • Saturday – Show Open 10:00 am – 7:00 pm
    • Sunday – Show Open 10:00 am – 12:00 pm (noon)
    • 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm Bidder/Buyer pick-up
    • 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm Artist pick-up and payment
